FOIA Request to City Of Mendota Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the City Of Mendota.

Our request specifically seeks access to a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city. The details requested include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of violation, and total due.

As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as media professionals involved in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver. We eagerly await a response from the City Of Mendota regarding this matter.
