FOIA Request to Lasalle City Council Regarding Detailed Information of Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Lasalle City Council. The request, dated October 15, 2024, seeks detailed information about all council members.
The requested records include each council member's name, title, year of appointment, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiration date. We believe that this information is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We have requested these records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for accessing these public records.
