FOIA Request to Streator City Council Regarding Detailed Information on All Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Streator City Council. The request was sent electronically on October 15, 2024.
The requested records include a list of all council members with specific fields such as their names, titles, years of appointment, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization, we believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
