FOIA Request Sent to City of Princeton Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Princeton Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The request specifically asks for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the City of Princeton. This includes details such as the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will shed light on how parking regulations are enforced in the city and may potentially reveal patterns or issues that need addressing.

We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of analysis and dissemination. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to cooperating with the City of Princeton in obtaining this information for the benefit of our readers and the general public.
