City of Peru Public Works Committee met Oct. 14
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
ROLL CALL: Chairman, Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza and Moreno present. Alderman Ballard absent.
MINUTES
Alderman Moreno made a motion to approve the Public Works Committee Minutes of September 30, 2024. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried.

IT REPORT

WATER & SEWER
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning discussed and recommend a proposal from Putnam County Painting, in the amount of $844,689.95 for the painting of the N. Peoria St. Water Tower; Railing fabrication in the amount of $34,540.00. Approval by supermajority with formal at the October 21st Regular Meeting.

BUILDING & GROUNDS
Committee discussed the replacement of the 6 decorative handrails along the north side of 4th Street from Pike Street to Schuyler Street (in the amount of $2,800 per handrail from AMF), with formal approval at the October 21st Regular Meeting.
STREETS & ALLEY
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported on the following:
• Leaf vacuuming will begin on Monday, October 28th.
• Chipper service will end November 1st
ELECTRIC
Alderman Lukosus recommended Kevin Minnick to serve as the City of Peru representative on the IMEA Board, with formal approval at the October 21st Regular Meeting.
Alderman Lukosus recommended the purchase of RTD modules, cabling, and controller programming for 7 Caterpillar generators for $25,722.34 from VIPOWER Services.
Electric Operations Manager Kevin Minnick reported on the 2006 International 47’ bucket truck noting $57,000 of repairs over the last few years and the need to research options.
ENGINEERING
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported that the Slough Bridge continues to deteriorate.
Alderman Lukosus asked about Army Corp of Engineers surplus bridges. Eric Carl was not aware of anything like that.
Alderman Edgcomb recommended requesting assistance from the county.
Mr. Carls recommended approval of time extension request from D Construction for the Area 5 Phase 2 (Rte. 6 Water Main) project with extensions as follows:
• March 31, 2025 for substantial completion
• May 15, 2025 for final completion
