FOIA Request to City of Princeton Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Princeton.
The request, sent on October 30, 2024, seeks records of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till date. The information sought includes the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also requested for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same details as mentioned above are sought for these active permits as well.
Access to public records is crucial for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
