Village of Seneca Village Council met Nov. 4

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Roll Call: Present: Mayor Olson, Commissioners Higgins, Peddicord, Victor and Weber 

Absent: None 

Also Present: Village Clerk Jennifer Peddicord, Attorney Bryan Wellner and Village Engineer Casey McCollom 

All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 

A motion was made by Comm. Weber and seconded by Comm. Higgins to approve the October 21, 2024 council meeting minutes as presented. 

Roll Call: Ayes: Olson, Higgins, Peddicord, Victor and Weber 

Nays: None 

A motion was made by Comm. Victor and seconded by Comm. Higgins to approve the payment of bills as presented. 

Roll Call: Ayes: Olson, Higgins, Peddicord. Victor and Weber 

Nays: None 

COMMUNICATIONS, PETITIONS, REPORTS AND ADDITIONAL AGENDA ITEMS: 

Additional Agenda Items: 

Commissioner Weber: Old: Update regarding replacement of sewer pumps. 

Commissioner Higgins: Old: Announcement regarding leaf pick-up. 

OLD BUSINESS: 

Commissioner Weber: Comm. Weber advised that the replacement of the sewer pumps will not be until January or February due to supplies not being readily available. 

Commissioner Higgins: Comm. Higgins announced that the leaf pick-up started today. He asked that residents move their vehicles out of the way and make sure that the leaves are as close to the road as possible, as the leaf vacuum cannot reach very far. 

COMMISSIONER'S REPORT AND NEW BUSINESS: 

PUBLIC PROPERTY, WATER & SEWER - WEBER: 

A motion was made by Comm. Weber and seconded by Comm. Higgins to approve an expenditure to Ferguson Waterworks in the amount of $3,072.00 for water meters. This order consisted of 12 new water meters. 

Roll Call: Ayes: Olson, Higgins, Peddicord. Victor and Weber 

Nays: None 

ACCOUNTS AND FINANCE - VICTOR: 

A motion was made by Comm. Victor and seconded by Comm. Peddicord to approve an expenditure to Wex Bank in the amount of $2,405.84 for fuel expenses. 

Roll Call: Ayes: Olson, Higgins, Peddicord. Victor and Weber 

Nays: None 

STREETS - HIGGINS: 

None. 

PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY - PEDDICORD: 

Comm. Peddicord announced that Shop with a Cop will take place the morning of Saturday, December 14. To be eligible, you must attend Seneca Grade School. Applications are available at the police station, village hall and the south and north campus grade schools, and must be turned in to the police department by November 30th. Donation letters were sent to local businesses only. Donations may be turned in to the police department or village hall. All donations that have been received are appreciated. 

PUBLIC AFFAIRS - OLSON: 

A motion was made by Comm. Weber and seconded by Comm. Higgins to approve a donation to Odd Fellows in the amount of $500.00. This donation will be paid from the Cruise Night funds. The Odd Fellows help each year with the cruise night and are very involved in the community.

Nays: None 

EXECUTIVE SESSION: 

A motion was made by Comm. Peddicord and seconded by Comm. Weber to enter into executive session at 5:36 p.m. to discuss the purchase or lease of real estate under 5 ILCS 120/(c)(5). 

Roll Call: Ayes: Olson, Higgins, Peddicord. Victor and Weber 

Nays: None 

A motion was made by Comm. Higgins and seconded by Comm. Peddicord to return to regular session at 5:55 p.m.

Nays: None 

A motion was made by Comm. Higgins and seconded by Comm. Weber to adjourn the council meeting.

The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
