City of LaSalle Street, Alleys and Traffic Committee met Nov. 12

Chairman Bacidore called the Meeting to order at 6:44 pm
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairman Bacidore, Ptak, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson, Herndon
Absent: Alderman Crane
Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, City Attorney James McPhedran, City Engineer Brian Brown, Director of Public Works Kevin Fay, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, Police Chief Mike Smudzinski, City Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, Alderman Thompson
A quorum was present.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to approve and place on file the minutes of the Streets, Alleys and Traffic Committee for October 28, 2024.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Chairman Bacidore introduced the next agenda item regarding the potential reconsideration of the parking issues on the 100 block of Gunn Avenue. He discussed about the previous vote and suggested reconsidering the parking restrictions to extend from the corner to the telephone pole, instead of corner to the driveway.
Alderman Ptak estimated that the change would result in gaining two more parking spaces for the residents, with both parties agreeing on the new boundary.
Moved by Alderman Ptak and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to approve the reconsideration of the parking issues on Gunn Ave., changing the “NO Parking” sign to the telephone pole to corner.

Deputy Clerk Brent Bader mentioned that the request for flashing red lights at Pershing and Creve Couer will be sent to Streets, Alleys, and Traffic Committee and will be on the next meeting’s agenda.
Alderman Bacidore mentioned that the concern with the dangerous island at First Street and LaHarpe Street is no longer. It has been removed and concrete will be poured in its place tomorrow.
Mayor Grove acknowledged Alderman Crane for suggesting that the city could remove the island in-house.
The resident at Chartres and Gunn Ave. questioned if his family could park in the "No Parking” zone over the holidays due to more family vehicles. The council advised him that he still needed to abide by the parking signs.
There were no other questions or comments from the public.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Herndon to adjourn the meeting.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Chairman Bacidore adjourned the meeting at 6:49 p.m.
