City of Princeton City Council met Dec. 2

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Raymond Mabry. 

Upon roll call, the following answered present, constituting a quorum: Council Members Jerry Neumann, Michael McCall, Martin Makransky and Hector Gomez and Mayor Mabry. All present at the meeting offered the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America 

PUBLIC COMMENT: None 

MOTION # 1: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that the printed copy of the minutes for the Regular Meeting of November 18, 2024 be approved. 

VOTE #1 

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, Gomez, Mc Call, Makransky, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried. 

MOTION #2: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that the bills and payrolls of the Department of Public Affairs and Department of Accounts and Finance, the Department of Public Property and Utilities, Streets and Public Improvements, and the Department of Public Health and Safety, all totaling $706,662.72 be allowed and paid. 

VOTE #2 

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, Gomez, McCall, Makransky, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried. 

MOTION # 3: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that Ordinance O-24-022, An Ordinance Levying of Taxes for Corporate Purposes for the Fiscal Year Commencing on the First Day of May, 2025 and Ending on the Thirtieth Day of April, 2026, for the City of Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois. First Reading. 

VOTE #3 

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, Gomez, McCall, Makransky, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried. 

CITY MANAGER REPORT: City Manager Theresa Wittenauer gave a progress update on the Marion Street project and announced the invitation to Bid for the Marion Street Storm Sewer Project, with bids being submitted no later than 10:00 a.m. at the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She also announced that bids for the Depot Landscaping Project have been collected and will be reviewing them. Lastly, she presented the brochure for Christmas Time for Princeton that included the schedule for upcoming Christmas events in Princeton. 

MAYOR REPORT: Mayor Mabry invited Princeton Chamber Director, Jenica Cole to review all the Christmas events that will be upcoming in Princeton and the Golf Cart Raffle that will be drawn in April. The mayor then asked Chief Tom Kammerer to give a quick update with the unhoused individuals in Princeton. Chief Kammerer announced between Arukah and the Princeton Ministerial Association they are working toward opening a warming center. 

OLD BUSINESS: None. 

NEW BUSINESS: None. 

PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 

MOTION # 4: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that the Regular Meeting be adjourned. The next Regular Meeting of the City Council will be on Monday, December 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., at City Hall. 

VOTE #4 

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, Gomez, McCall, Makransky, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried. Adjournment at 6:25 p.m.
