FOIA Request to Bureau County Sheriff's Department Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025.
As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have formally requested access to arrest records from the year 2024 under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The specific records requested include a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The fields requested for each arrest record are: Arrestee Name, Arrest Date, Arrestee Gender, Arrestee Race, Arrestee's Date of Birth, and Crime Committed.
We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
