Alderman Lavieri stated that the committee will keep the recommendation on the floor regarding action on Health Insurance Renewal until all members are present to discuss.
Alderman Herndon mentioned that the committee does need to consider a donation to the local food pantry sooner than later. He asked to add this item onto the agenda for next meeting. Alderman Crane was asked his opinion in regard to this donation. He stated that he plans to be a little more aware of amounts that are getting donated out, even after his recent suggestion to the Perfectly Flawed Foundation. Crane believes that city could donate a more feasible amount instead of $2,500. Alderman Lavieri mentions a state statute that tax money shouldn’t be used for nonprofits unless it benefits the larger portion of the community. Lavieri does believe that this donation to the food pantry could fit this exception. He stated that other donations in the past may not have met this exception, however.
Alderman Jeppson supports a sizable donation, citing food insecurities and the fact that the school does qualify for free breakfast and free lunch for every student, every day.
There were no questions on the bills.
There were no questions or comments from the public.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Herndon to adjourn the meeting.
