PRESENTATION

Illinois Valley Food Pantry Executive Director Mary Jo Credi along with Board Member Lance Korter addressed the Committee requesting a donation of $10,000 and explained what the program does for the community. “Over the past year, the Illinois Valley Food Pantry provided food to more than 5,500 families (13,000 people) and the number needing help continues to grow. As a result, we are approaching the community we serve.” “While our Pantry does help families in LaSalle, Oglesby, and other surrounding communities, about 25 percent of our clients are from Peru. Over the past year, approximately 1,300 families in Peru received food from us. This is why we are asking you to consider recommending to the city council that the City of Peru add a donation of $10,000 to the Illinois Valley Food Pantry to its annual budget.” “Please help us to continue to provide food to the increasing number of local families who are struggling with the high cost of living and especially the rising cost of food.”
