City of Ottawa Historic Preservation Commission met March 13
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
Present: Bob Eschbach, Chuck Stanley, Lorraine McCallister Mollie Perrot, Paul Havelka, Rich Mennecke, Tami Koppen (staff)
Absent: Chris Hasty, Earle Lecki, George Cary
Public Comment. No comments
Minutes. Moved by Chuck Stanley that the minutes for OHPC meeting held on January 9, 2025, be approved as amended. Second by Paul Havelka. All ayes. Motion passed.
Commercial Historic District maps.
Heather Pursley from Post and Prairie Design Studio presented several window cling designs to the commission for consideration. Additionally, we reviewed the MapMe interactive map, which is priced at approximately $500 per year. Heather will return next month with a general map and layout for further review
Church and Jordan Block Sign.
Tami reported that both signs have been installed. The Commission also discussed the possibility of holding an unveiling event for these signs. Chuck will explore the availability of a Mark Twain impersonator for the event and will report back next month.
South Bluff Historic Survey (CLG Grant).
Tami stated that a public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16th at 5:30PM. Lara will be sending the draft report soon for everyone’s review.
New Business
Fort Johnson Signage.
Chuck Stanley mentioned having a Historic Marker sign installed for Fort Johnson on East Prospect Street.
Allocating $1,800 from this year’s budget and about $1,200 from next year’s budget.
