City of LaSalle Finance Committee met May 12

ROLL CALL
Present: Aldermen Demes, Thompson, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson
Excused Absence: Chairman Ptak, Aldermen Herndon and Crane
Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, Fire Chief Jerry Janick
A quorum was present.
Moved by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to appoint Alderman Lavieri Chairman Pro-tem of the meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Pro-tem Lavieri provided a correction to the second page of the April 28, 2025, minutes near the bottom changing the word “effects” to “to Beck’s.” Deputy Clerk Bader indicated he would make the correction.
Moved by Alderman Demes and seconded by Alderman Thompson to approve the minutes from the April 28, 2025, meeting, as corrected.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The request for a monetary donation from Better Fishing Association Kids’ Programs and related matters were reviewed. Chairman Pro-tem Lavieri serves on their board and as such would abstain from voting on this request, leaving no quorum. Discussion proceeded with members citing past practice of donating $500, either directly from the City or $250 from the City and $250 from Parks. It was agreed to move the request forward to the Council for vote with the recommendation of a $500 donation.
Moved by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to recommend to the Council to approve the request from Denise and Drew Bernabei for a Redevelopment Incentive Program grant totaling $1,990 for premises located at 629 First Street and related matters.

OLD BUSINESS/BILLS
Deputy Clerk Bader reminded members there will be a meeting of the Finance Committee Monday, May 19, 2025, at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers for the initial review of the proposed budget for 2025-2026.

Moved by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to adjourn the meeting.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Chairman Pro-tem Lavieri adjourned the meeting at 6:08 p.m.
