City of Princeton City Council met June 2

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Raymond Mabry.

Upon roll call, the following answered present, constituting a quorum: Council Members Jerry Neumann, Mike McCall, Donald Saletzki and Hector Gomez. All present at the meeting offered the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of Americа.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Mayor Mabry presented a proclamation officially declaring June 6th as Pamela Pratt Day in the City of Princeton.

MOTION #1: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that the printed copy of the minutes for the Regular Meeting of May 19, 2025 be approved.

VOTE #1

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

MOTION #2: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that the bills and payrolls of the Department of Public Affairs and Department of Accounts and Finance, the Department of Public Property and Utilities, Streets and Public Improvements, and the Department of Public Health and Safety, all totaling $485,179.76 be allowed and paid.

VOTE #2

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

MOTION # 3: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that Ordinance O-25-011 Authorizing the Sale of Personal Property, No Longer Necessary or Useful to the City of Princeton be approved.

VOTE #3

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

MOTION # 4: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that Ordinanceе О-25-012 Amending the City Code of Ordinances to Establish Beautification Standards Following the Demolition of a Building in a B-1 District. First Reading.

VOTE #4

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

MOTION# 5: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that Resolution R-25-016 Authorizing the Award of Contract to Low Bidder for Roof Coating on Electric Building be approved.

VOTE #5

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

MOTION # 6: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that Resolution R-25-017 Requesting Temporary Closure of Illinois Route 26, a State Highway from Elm Place to Park Ave. on Saturday, September 6, 2025 for a Homestead Festival Parade be approved.

VOTE #6

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

MOTION #7: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that Ian Legner replace Carolyn Schafer on the Princeton Public Library Board for an unexpired 3-year term ending June 30, 2027.

VOTE #7

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried.

CITY MANAGER REPORT: City Manager Theresa Wittenauer announced that an invitation to bid has been issued for the resurfacing of the Fire and Ambulance Bay flooring, with bids due by 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13th, 2025. She also noted that the April 2025 Police and Fire Pension reports were included in the current council packet. In addition, she announced that the Main Street will be closed on Saturday, June 7th for the Princeton Mile, with the Annual Shrimpfest to follow at Rotary Park. Lastly, she reported that the Police Department received $62,400 in camera grant funds from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

MAYOR REPORT: Mayor Mabry invited Jenica Cole of the Princeton Chamber of Commerce to provide an overview of upcoming events taking place in the City of Princeton.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: Councilmember Neumann suggested making improvements to City Hall entrance to create a more welcoming an updated appearance.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Chief Tom Kammerer extended an invitation to all to attend an Open House in honor of Erik Sorenson's Retirement.

MOTION # 8: Neumann made a motion (2nd Gomez) that the Regular Meeting be adjourned.

The next Regular Meeting of the City Council will be on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 6:00 p.m., at City Hall.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Council Members Neumann, McCall, Gomez, Saletzki, and Mayor Mabry voted Aye. Motion declared carried. Adjournment at 6:22 p.m.
