City of LaSalle Finance Committee met June 9

CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Ptak called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Ptak, Aldermen Demes, Thompson, Reynolds, Lavieri, and Herndon Excused Absence: Aldermen Jeppson and Crane

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, Director of Public Works Kevin Fay, and City Attorney James McPhedran (arrived 6:06 p.m.)

A quorum was present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Thompson to approve the minutes from the May 19, 2025, meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to approve the minutes from the May 27, 2025, meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Finance Director John Duncan indicated he expects the TIF numbers to be available later this week and would be added to the appropriations draft. Posting of the budget and a public hearing will follow with the Council voting at the July 7, 2025, meeting.

Duncan discussed the current power issues in City Hall due to a transfer switch that needs to be replaced. Although that project won’t increase expenses in the budget it will reprioritize projects.

Moved by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Demes to recommend to the Council to approve a one-time donation of $5,000 to the Illinois Valley Food Pantry.
