City of Ottawa Historic Preservation Commission met Aug. 14

Present: Bob Eschbach, Chris Hasty, Chuck Stanley, George Cary, Lorraine McCallister, Mollie Perrot, Paul Havelka, Rich Mennecke, Tami Koppen (staff)
Absent: Earle Lecki
Public Comment. No comments
Approval of Minutes. Moved by Chuck Stanley that the minutes for OHPC meeting held on July 10, 2025, be approved. Second by Paul Havelka. All ayes. Motion passed.
Certificate of Appropriateness - Proposal to construct a rooftop deck and install new front façade windows and a door at 230 West Main Street.
Patricia Forkan, owner of the building, explained the proposal to the committee. Commission reviewed and discussed the proposal.
Moved by Chuck Stanley that the request for certification of appropriateness to construct a rooftop deck and install new front façade windows and a door at 230 West Main Street by approved. Second by Paul Havelka. All ayes. Motion passed.
Certificate of Appropriateness - Proposal for a façade renovation at 603 LaSalle Street and in the 200 block of West Main Street.
Commission reviewed and discussed the proposal. George Cary expressed concern regarding the lack of detail in the submitted drawing. The commission agreed that the general concept is acceptable but needed a more detailed and accurate drawing to move forward.
South Bluff Survey (CLG Grant)
Project completed, submitting grant reimbursement. Lara is working on the determination of eligibility letter.
New Business .
Colonnade . Mollie has requested that the colonnade project be revisited.
