At a recent meeting, the Peru City Council voted to renew its contract with lobbyist Tim McAnarney for one year.
The Peru City Council includes two members from each of the city’s four wards. Members meet at 7:30 p.m. every other Monday, except when Monday falls on a holiday, at Peru Municipal Building, 1901 Fourth St.

MINUTES
Mayor Harl presented the minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 26, 2016. Alderman Potthoff made a motion that the minutes be received and placed on file. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion; motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORTS
Alderman Potthoff presented the Treasurer’s Report for May 2016; City Clerk Report of Cash Received for May2016; Sales, Home Rule, Use and Telecommunication Tax Receipts for March 2016 and Peru Recreation Fund Cash
Accounts Summary for May 2016 and made a motion that the reports be received and placed on file. Alderman
Ferrari seconded the motion; motion carried.
ACTIVITY REPORTS
Alderman Waldorf presented the Police Department Monthly Report for May 2016 and Peru Volunteer AmbulanceService Activity Summary for May 2016 and made a motion that the reports be received and placed on file.

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to renew 1 year contract with lobbyist Tim McAnarney for $2,000. AldermanLukosus stated that the City of Ottawa pays their lobbyist $3,000 per month. Alderman Sapienza seconded themotion. Alderman Potthoff made a motion to bind Boiler and Machinery Insurance with Liberty Mutual Insurance throughRiver Valley Insurance for an annual premium of $60,228. Alderman Payton seconded the motion. Deputy Clerk

PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE
Alderman Waldorf made a motion to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the revised developmentagreement with Northern White Sand, LLC & Peru Industrial Rail 1, LLC. City Engineer Eric Carls reported theamendment is to outline financing terms, construction costs. Surety grant to guarantee repayment. CorporateCounsel Doug Schweickert reported performance obligations would be secured by Liberty Mutual. City EngineerEric Carls reported on possible July 11th bid opening. Alderman Potthoff reported that all obligations from the Cityare taken up by the developer. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion. Alderman Lukosus made a motion to approve purchase of conduit for approximate cost of $8,000-$10,000.

Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert presented the minutes of a Planning/Zoning Commission meeting held on
June 22, 2016 concerning the petition of Thomas Smith requesting variance for property located at 1407 CentennialRoad, Peru, IL. Alderman Radtke made a motion the minutes be received, placed on file and concur with therecommendation. Alderman Payton seconded the motion; motion carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Mayor Harl reported Special Corporate Counsel sent over TIF information and asked more information. Mayor Harl
stated the City will sit with the taxing bodies and report back to the Council.

Mayor Harl initiated a discussion regarding the fireworks. ASM/Police Chief Doug Bernabei reported that plans arein place with a nice venue and good parking access. ASM/Police Chief Bernabei stated North Peoria between 36thand 38th Street will be closed at noon on Sunday. PSM/Fire Chief King stated electric service is in place along withthe temporary fence. PSM/Fire Chief King also reported a culvert was added to for access to the field and ditcheswere cut over the weekend.
City Engineer Eric Carls reported on grass cutting in the ditches and will regrade the base of ditch once MFT isfinished. Alderman Potthoff inquired about standing water from debris. City Engineer Eric Carls stated they willclean up the debris, get silt out and clean culverts.

City Clerk Dave Bartley presented a communication from Helen and Ethel Bosshart requesting permission to closeCross Street between Main and Market Streets between 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4th for afamily reunion. Alderman Sapienza made a motion that the communication be received, placed on file andpermission granted. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion.
