An ordinance will be drawn and filed with the Department of Revenue prior to September 20th in order for the new rate to take effect January 1st, 2017. No voter referendum is required. The telecommunications tax includes, but not limited to, telephone services, cell phone services, paging services or any other transmission of messages or information by electronic or similar means. Council was in agreement to raise the telecommunication tax to the maximum allowed, or increase by 2.25%.
