Welter invites District 75 residents to join legislative advisory committees

Vote 07

State Rep. David Welter (R-Morris) invited members of the community and local advocates this week to join his legislative advisory committees.

The committees provide input on issues regarding agriculture, the disabled, education and first-responders.

“Advisory boards are key to representing our district well,” Welter said. “This provides opportunity for members of the community to not only bring in ideas, which I always welcome, but it allows for a sounding board when discussing legislation that is presented by other parts of the state. I want to know how this will impact our community so I can represent our district well.”

Welter was selected in July to replace John Anthony, who resigned from his seat to take a position with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Welter will finish the term and face Democratic candidate Martha Shugart in the November general election. Welter served on the Grundy County Board for six years before being tapped for the District 75 state House seat.

Welter began his political career at age 19, when he realized that government spending was out of control. His dedication, knowledge of the issues and willingness to meet with Grundy County constituents led him to victory in his first election. He continues to meet and talk to the residents of the 75th District to ensure that his work in the Assembly aligns with their beliefs and concerns about the budget, economy and education.
