The city of Peru Public Services Committee met Oct. 10 to announce the relocation of the skating rink.

MINUTES Chairman Waldorf made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 26, 2016 Public Services Committee Meeting. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried.

WATER & SEWER Don Kowalczyk of T.E.S.T. reported the annual cost for Peru’s Bio-Solid application.
PSM Jeff King reported hydrant flushing will begin Sunday, October 16th at 6p.m. until 2a.m. and will run through Thursday night, October 20th.

ELECTRIC
Alderman Lukosus made a motion to approve quote from Patten to spray foam insulation on (3) fuel tanks in the amount of $20,790.00. Electric Department General Foreman Kye Kaszynski explained what the engines do along with their benefits. He also explained other remedies have been tried but nothing has helped with the condensation issue; this is a maintenance issue that needs addressed. This item will be put on Monday’s agenda for discussion and approval.
Kye Kaszynski also announced two bids have been received for the Electric Department Line Truck; the quotes are valid for 30 days. Alderman Lukosus made a motion to place on file. Chairman Waldorf seconded the motion. All voting aye; motion carried.
LANDFILL None
AIRPORT City Engineer Eric Carls informed D Construction will be mobilizing today to repair panels, the crack sealing project is projected to start soon, and a quote has been received from Advanced Asphalt to repair the intersection of two runways.
CEMETERY City Engineer Carls informed the architect for the mausoleum rehab project will provide an update this week on plan development and the job should be out to bid this year.
PARKS & RECREATION PSM Jeff King announced the skating rink will be moved to Washington Park this year because there are many benefits to this location. He also stated the rec board will need to purchase a new tarp.
Alderman Sapienza informed the preparations for the Christmas program are starting. City Clerk Dave Bartley stated he would like to coordinate and advertise seasonal events.
CODE ENFORCEMENT/ BUILDING & ZONING Code Enforcement Officer Josh Theisinger reported paperwork has been submitted to the City Attorney, as discussed at the last meeting.
PSM Jeff King reported Stor-Galore plans to plant trees and will need to go before Design Review Committee for approval.
ENGINEERING
City Engineer Eric Carls provided updates on the following current projects:
• Area 3 Phase 1 – the last section of the sewer coming from 5th St. is being completed and project remains on schedule.
• Venture Drive – items on the punch list are being completed.
• Plank Rd – project is mobilizing; will begin by the end of the month.
• Water St. – traffic control and rock removal will be starting next week.
BUILDINGS & GROUNDS None
OLD BUSINESS City Clerk Dave Bartley provided a reminder about the electronics recycling event that will take place on October 22, 2016 at 10a.m. Details are available at the City of Peru website and Facebook page.

PUBLIC COMMENT Mike Hart wanted to note in regards to the Pearl Harbor event coming up, this year is the 75th Anniversary. He also commented that the trimming taking place at Centennial Park has made a good improvement.
