Somonauk Board of Trustees presents monthly bills

The village of Somonauk Board of Trustees met Sept. 14 to present monthly bills.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

"The Village Board meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm."

VILLAGE of SOMONAUK BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 6:30 pm

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Attending Trustees: Conley, Eade, Merrili and McMillen, Absent: Village President Grandgeorge.

MOTION:

Trustee Merrill moved to approve the minutes for the August 10, 2016 regular board meeting with the correction under Street & Alleys it should read AED not ARD. Eade seconded the motion and the following Trustees voted: Conley-yes, Eade-yes, and Merrill-yes and McMillen.

Motion Passed BILLS: Morphey presented the bills ending September 14, 2016 with a total of$39,715.88. Morphey reported there were no unusual bills.

Motion: Trustee Conley moved to approve the bill list in the amount of $39,715.88. Trustee Merrill seconded the motion and the following Trustees voted: Eade -yes Conley-yes, Merrill-yes, and McMillen-yes.

Motion Passed Reports of Officers: Police: Smith reported the motor fan of the 2012 Chevy had gone out and was in the process of being recalled. He had first taken it to Jim's to find the problem and them to GJOVK's as it was a recall issue. He learned there it would be 8 weeks before the part could be gotten. He then took it to Vaessen Motors in Sublet with the part coming in in two days.

Eade asked about the motor cycle. Smith stated that he had not talked to his friend who owns the motor cycle shop, but the man who they had seized the cycle from is now in jail.

Water/ Sewer: Eipers reported there was a storm sewer sink hole on south Gage St. C. Johnson Trenching was called in to repair. The oxidation ditch was repaired. Eade commented the storage shed at the park looked nice. He also inquired ifthe public works was looking at trying to install the ice skating rink again? Eipers said they will be trying it again.

Street & Alleys: Wasson presented his written report stating what he had been doing. Wasson mentioned he was waiting to hear from Joe Heinz about the 2016 street program meeting. Morphey stated that after the meeting is when we can get a price for the completion of park walking path. Merrill asked that Jeff be sure when they do the path they make sure the corners are rounded. At the same time see if they would correct the ones done last year.

Reports of Committees:

Water & Sewer Morphey reported that because there has not been a construction meeting, there has not been an opportunity to acquire a bid from Curran's for the black top of the sewer plant. 1

Finance: Morphey presented the April 2016 Treasurers Report for acceptance. Morphey reported that everything in the Treasurers report was listed in the budget and appropriation. She also said that if anybody wanted to look at it further we could hold off the vote until next month, it needed to be published by the end of October.

Motion:

Merrill moved to pass the Treasurers Report for April 2016 Eade seconded the motion and the following Trustees voted: Conley-yes, Eade-yes, and Merrill-yes and McMillen.

Laws & Ordinance: Nothing to Report

Employee Relations: Nothing to Report

Streets & Alley:

Nothing to report

Building and Grounds: Nothing to report

Other Business:

Motion Passed

Morphey mentioned Dollar General was open and had their Grand Opening. There had been a few issues with them mowing the entire lot and also there was a broken sidewalk that needed to be replaced.

Conley moved to adjourn at 6:55pm. Eade seconded the motion and the following Trustees voted: Eade -yes Conley-yes, Merrill- yes, and McMillen-yes
