The following minutes were recorded for the Regular Board of Education Meeting of the Tonica Community Consolidated Grade School District #79, LaSalle County, February 20, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center.
I. Routine Business
President Jeremy Hillyer convened the board meeting at 6:00 p.m. Brian Marcinkus, Ritch Fundell, Al Leffelman, Julie Rietgraf, Nikki Freeman, and Jackie Anderson were present.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Additional Attendees: Jim Whitmore (Interim Superintendent), Tony Bernardoni, Barb Puetz, Kirsten Augspols, Julie Beenenga, Lois Beenenga, and Zachary Pratt (Tonica News).
Motion by Leffelman, 2nd by Fundell to approve consent agenda. Motion Carried.
II. New Business
• Motion by Rietgraf, 2nd by Marcinkus to approve the agreement with Illinois Association of School Boards to update and customize the District’s Board Policy Manual. Motion Carried.
• Motion by Rietgraf to approve the sale of working cash bonds. Motion Died.
• Motion by Rietgraf, 2nd by Freeman to table until March the sale of Health Life Safet bonds as presented. Motion Carried.
• Motion by Fundell, 2nd by Marcinkus to approve the change of insurance agent service provider as presented. Motion Carried.
• Motion by Fundell, 2nd by Rietgraf to authorize the superintendent to seek additional information to contract district bussing for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Motion Carried.
• Motion by Rietgraf, 2nd by Leffelman to discontinue hosting the Tonica Grade School tuition based autism program at the end of the 2016 – 2017 school year and summer extended program. Motion Carried.
• Motion by Rietgraf, 2nd by Fundell to approve Joshua Sensiba as a volunteer coach pending completion of IESA coaching. Motion Carried.
• Motion by Freeman, 2nd by Rietgraf to approve Jeff Miller as volunteer bowling coach pending completion of IESA coaching requirements. Motion Carried.
III. Adjournment
• Motion by Marcinkus, 2nd by Leffelman to adjourn regular board meeting at 7:25 p.m. Motion Carried.
