FOIA Request to Lasalle County IL Elections Division Regarding Voter Roll Changes on May 29, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Lasalle County IL Elections Division. Our request seeks detailed records concerning changes to the voter file database over the past 12 months. Specifically, we are interested in obtaining information about all new registrants, removed registrants, and any voters who have had changes made to their registration details.
The requested data includes each relevant voter's full name, residential address, mailing address (if different), voter identification number (if applicable), date of birth, phone number (if available), email address (if available), party affiliation (if applicable), and voting history. Additionally, we seek information regarding each voter's status—whether they were added as newly registered voters, removed from the voter roll, or had changes such as address updates.
Our role in gathering and reporting news is vital for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. As media professionals dedicated to informing the public, we believe this request qualifies for a fee waiver. We are supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
We look forward to receiving these records to continue our mission of informing the American electorate with clarity and accuracy.
