Illinois Valley area residents are invited to attend an informational session at Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) on June 21 to learn about certified production technician (CPT) courses that begin in August.

CPT certifications are a preferred credential for employment with 16 local manufacturers, giving students a strong foundation in the skills manufacturers now require. Those who attend the free session will learn about the CPT course and other programs that can help students secure high-paying, high-demand jobs, according to a release from IVCC.

The next IVCC CPT classes begin on Aug. 16; scholarships are available.

“Courses are now offered in a blended format of in-person and online instruction and offered in the evening for student convenience,” Jennifer Scheri, director of Continuing Education and Business Services, said in the release. “In as little as five months, students can graduate with an IVCC certificate, the nationally-recognized CPT credential, as well as an OSHA 10-hour industry certification.”

The information session will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Peter Miller Community Technology Center in room CTC201.
