While the race for political offices in Illinois is just heating up for some, others have chosen to pull out of the race and support their fellow candidates. Such is the case with Liandro Arellano Jr.
Arellano, the mayor of Dixon, was running for 45th Senate District of Illinois up until recently, when he announced that he would no longer pursue this political endeavor.
"I have decided to exit the race in Illinois' 45th Senate district," Arellano told Illinois Valley Times. "Since I announced my intent to run, there have been a number of changes at both the city of Dixon and within my businesses. As a result, the demands on my time have increased as I address challenges that have arisen."

The previous week saw the beginning of filing of paperwork for candidates running for political office in Illinois. Arellano decided prior to filing that he would begin to stand behind other candidates rather than continue to build his own group of supporters.
"That new dynamic, combined with my appreciation for Brian Stewart as a capable candidate, led me to decide that a long primary battle was not the best choice in this race," Arellano said.
But just because he is leaving the race doesn't mean he is quitting at trying to bring reform to Illinois.
"I do feel called to serve with those attempting to repair our state," Arellano said. "Right now, though, I believe fulfilling my responsibilities to the citizens of Dixon, my family and my employees no longer leaves enough personal time to run a campaign."
Arellano said he appreciates the efforts of all those who helped him in the campaigning process, throughout which he received nearly 2,000 petition signatures through nine counties in the 45th District.
"I know the hours and dedication that went into that. I promise them that my passion has not waned in the slightest, and I look forward to what the future will bring," Arellano said.
State Rep. Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) has filed to seek the 45th Senate District seat and will, if elected, replace Sen. Tim Bivins (R-Dixon). The 45th Senate District covers all or a part of Carroll, DeKalb, JoDaviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties.
