Report: Coal City spent $12,962 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Coal City Community Unit School District 1 is down 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Grundy County school district spent $13,213 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $12,962 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 2126 to 2206.

Coal City's spending in 2016-17 was 0 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
