Report: Malden spent $11,290 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Malden Community Consolidated School District 84 is down 7 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Bureau County school district spent $12,145 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,290 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 82 to 89.

Malden's spending in 2016-17 was 13 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
