PERRY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: Perry Tour Showcases Mental Health Partnerships

Perry Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on May 16.

On May 15,2018, Health and Human Services Regional Director, Doug O’Brien, toured Perry Memorial Hospital with Perry’s CEO/President, Annette Schnabel. Director O’Brien was in town meeting with community leaders to learn about the success of Community Partners Against Substance Abuse (CPASA) Drug Take Back Program.

While on his tour, he was informed of Perry’s commitment to its partnership with CPASA along with frontline EMS workers who combat the opioid crisis using naloxone to save lives. Rural health is changing the need for mental health services continues to grow.

“Perry implemented technology hardware in 2017 for access and improved emergency department mental health service care. This was a collaborative effort with Unity Point Health to provide consulting for proper placement of patients in need of mental health services.” Schnabel shared with Director O’Brien. In total, $18.6K was invested and results will save over $86K in patients’ length-of-stay in the Emergency Department.
