Ottawa Fire Department responded to 337 calls in 2017 - 25.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.
The calls in Ottawa included 49 fires - 18 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 27 other fires. The fire department also responded to 14 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $248,350 in fire loss - or about $5,068 per fire.
The department also received 274 false calls, including two malicious calls and 272 other false calls.
