Seneca FD responds to 40 fires in 2017

Seneca Fire Department responded to 53 calls in 2017 - 7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Seneca included 40 fires - 21 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $49,000 in fire loss - or about $1,225 per fire.

The department also received 12 false calls.

The Seneca Fire Department had an annual budget of $600,472 in 2017.
