Utica Fire Departmentrict responded to 40 calls in 2017 - 8.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Uticarict included 30 fires - 11 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 12 other fires.

In all, the department saw $516,000 in fire loss - or about $17,200 per fire.

The department also received 10 false calls, including one malicious call and nine other false calls.
