City of Oglesby City Council met June 4.

Present: Commissioners Rivara, Porter, Zborowski, Argubright, Mayor Finley, Attorney Andreoni and City Clerk Mertes.


A MOTION WAS MADE BY PORTER, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT to approve the regular meeting minutes from May 21, 2018. AYES: PORTER, RIVARA, ZBOROWSKI, ARGUBRIGHT, FINLEY.

The Mayor opened the floor to comments from the public on agenda items only. There were none.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY PORTER, SECONDED BY RIVARA to place on file Ordinance 1024-061818, Establishing Wages for Oglesby Ambulance Service Employees, minus the transfer pay portion along with schedule. AYES: PORTER, RIVARA, ZBOROWSKI, ARGUBRIGHT, FINLEY.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY ZBOROWSKI to place on file Ordinance 1025-061818, Authorizing the Execution of the First Amendment to a Land Lease Agreement between the City of Oglesby and Sellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless. AYES: PORTER, RIVARA, ZBOROWSKI, ARGUBRIGHT, FINLEY.

The Mayor asked for comments from the public. A resident asked for an update on the boarded up home on 2nd and Magnal. He said that neighbors are cutting the grass. Chief Knobluach said that the parks department should be cutting the grass since they boarded it up. Attorney Andreoni said he can research more into who the owners are since the home was likely purchased on the back taxes.

Dave Lourie from T.E.S.T addressed the council. He said the pool is open and working good. The city purchased a new digital chlorine meter to get better readings of the chemicals. He handed out a water and waste water report. He said that they have a handle on the plants and will be presenting a 6 month and 12 month plan at the next meeting. He said that T.E.S.T has a new manager Lance Greathouse and they are going to hire another full time and part time employee soon. He also reminded residents to make sure not to put grass clippings in the street. It causes problems at the plants and clogs the sewer system.

Mayor Finley- Mayor said the pool is now opened. The boat landing is closed through Wednesday due to concrete work. He said that the parking lot will be marked next week and the shelter will be put up soon. He mentioned the new Welcome to Oglesby sign that is down there. It highlights area businesses and places to see along with having a holder for dinner brochures. He said the Dickinson House roof is coming along. Summer Fun Fest is June 14-June 17. The fest ends with a huge parade and fireworks display on Sunday. The current 50/50 pot is a little over $10,000 and the drawing will be Sunday June 17th.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY PORTER, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT at 7:23pm to enter into Closed Session to discuss “pending or probable litigation against, affecting or on behalf of the public body…” AYES: PORTER, RIVARA, ZBOROWSKI, ARGUBRIGHT, FINLEY.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY ARGUBRIGHT, SECONDED BY RIVARA TO ENTER BACK INTO REGULAR MEETING at 7:42pm. AYES: PORTER, RIVARA, ZBOROWSKI, ARGUBRIGHT, FINLEY.

A MOTION TO ADJOURN WAS MADE AT 7:43 pm BY PORTER, SECONDED BY ARGUBRIGHT. AYES: PORTER, RIVARA, ZBOROWSKI, ARGUBRIGHT, FINLEY.
