Mendota Township High School District 280 students suspended 77 times in a single school year

Mendota Township High School District 280 reported 77 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 77 students during the year. That equates to 13.9 percent of the 553 students enrolled.

Of the 77 out-of-school suspensions, 60 were given to boys and 17 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 73 incidents. There were three incidents of drugs. For 51 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
