City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
Commissioner James Less has announced Canal Road will be CLOSED TO ALL THRU TRAFFIC on the weekend of Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16, 2018. The road will be closed between Chapel Street on the west and Chicago Road on the east beginning at 6:30 a.m. and expected to be reopened by 3:30 p.m. each day.
The City and contractors will be completing the project that began in mid-November of clearing underbrush and trees along Canal Road. Access to residents within the closure and access to the Shorelne Boat Club will be permissible.
The motoring public should seek alternate routes during this period. The Ottawa Police Department will monitor traffic and violators will be ticketed during the clearing operations.
Drivers that reside within the work area or need to gain access to Shoreline Boat Club are reminded to use EXTREME CAUTION during the closures.
