Iceskate

City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Feb. 2.

Snow removal operations have been completed by Public Works Staff and the Thornton Park Ice Rink will reopen today at noon and close at 10:00 p.m.

The rink will reopen tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. and remain open as weather conditions allow.

It is anticipated that the rink will temporarily close tomorrow no later than 1:00 p.m. due to warmer temperatures and forecast rain showers.

The rink will remain closed due to forecast warm temperatures and rain through early next week.

The rink will reopen when ice conditions are suitable for safe skating. Based on the current extended forecast it appears the rink will be ready to reopen on or near Friday, February 8th.

Staff will closely monitor ice conditions next week and an update will be provided mid-week for a potential reopening date.
