Ottawa home prices rise in the second quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the second quarter of 2017 in Ottawa rose by $18,000 while total sales decreased by 7.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From April through June of 2017, there were 82 homes sold, with a median sale price of $129,000 - a 16.2% increase over the $111,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 89 homes sold in Ottawa in the second quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Ottawa for 2017 was $3,169.03. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,043. This marks an increase of 4.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.5%.
