Illinois Valley Community Hospital issued the following announcement on Aug. 19.
Join us in Conference Room C for the Grand Opening of the Milk Depot at IVCH!
The milk depot is a location that mothers who have an oversupply or “stockpile” of breastmilk can drop off donations. This depot is the first in our community. Mothers go through a free screening process before being approved to donate their breastmilk. The Mother’s Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes collects, screens, processes and distributes donated human milk. The banked donor milk is prescribed when a baby’s mother cannot provide enough of her own milk due to low milk production, serious illness, medical treatment or medications incompatible with breastfeeding, or adoption.
