Bureau Valley Community Unified School District 340 Board of Education met July 15.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

Determining that a quorum was present, President Yepsen called the regular meeting to order at 6:00 pm and directed the Secretary to call the roll.

ROLL CALL

PRESENT: Dye, Johnson, Maynard, Olds, Spencer, Wiggim, Yepsen

ABSENT: None

Sheri Litherland, BV JH Teacher, made a presentation on a student trip to Washington DC in June. Bureau Valley South was named the Illinois Elementary of the Year by the NEED Project, for STEM activities. Thirteen students and nine adults from Bureau Valley attended the trip.

There was no public comment.

It was moved by Olds and seconded by Johnson to enter into executive session at 6:15 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity, Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees, Student disciplinary cases, or the setting of a price for sale or lease of property owned by the public body; and Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi- annual review of the minutes.

During Building Reports, Justin Yepsen asked Transportation Director, Glenda Klingenberg about the status of the new routing software. Glenda reported that training is almost complete and that they expect to go live August 6th.

It was moved by Olds and seconded by Wiggim to approve the consent agenda items:

Justin Yepsen gave an update on the construction project. He stated that the project is extremely close to being finished. Furniture has arrived and has been assembled. The playground equipment is being installed on Tuesday, July 16th with community volunteers. Moving days are July 17th and 18th, where classroom items will be moved from Buda and Walnut. On August 9th, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:00pm for the new addition. On August 10th, the District will hold an open house in Manlius from 8:00am to Noon, so that the community can tour the new addition.

It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Maynard to approve and retain the executive session meeting minutes of June 20, 2019 and June 25, 2019.

It was moved by Johnson and seconded by Dye to accept resignation of Lisa Wilt as BVHS Paraprofessional and Tiffany Johnson as BVHS Paraprofessional.

It was moved by Olds and seconded by Wiggim to approve the employment of Ryan Carlson as 6th Grade Boys Basketball Coach and Tiana VanDusen as BVHS Winter Cheer Coach.

It was moved by Olds and seconded by Johnson to approve the following volunteer coaches: BVHS Football: Craig Johnson, Derek Pistole and Noel Warkins; BVHS Volleyball: Ashley Gutshall and Shannon Kennedy.

It was moved by Olds and seconded by Dye to approve the Updated FY20 Wage Scale and Positions as presented.
