Seneca Township High School District 160 Board of Education Co-Curricular Committee met Jan. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

A meeting of the Co-Curricular Committee was held on January 8, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order with the following members present: Ron Frye and Sara Olson.

Also present: Jim Carlson and Steve Haines.

Absent: Cory Yandell

A. Public Comment

There was no public comment.

B. Co-Curricular Committee

1. Homecoming Changes

Mr. Haines reviewed a tentative Homecoming schedule for 2020. It includes Homecoming Volleyball game on Monday, Mr. Irish on Wednesday, Macho Volleyball and Powder Puff Football on Thursday, Class games, the Homecoming Parade, and the Homecoming Football game on Friday, and the Homecoming dance on Saturday.

2. Fall Sports Summary

Mr. Haines report indicated that overall it was a great season. He reviewed strengths, concerns, and Ideas for Improvement for each sport. Number of students participating included Football 44, Volleyball 42, Cross Country 37, Golf 19, Cheerleading 20, Soccer 7, and Swimming 0.

3. Fall Sports Surveys

Mr. Haines reviewed the aggregate results of the surveys of fall athletic participants. Our

athletes report very positive views of our fall sports and coaches.

4. IHSA By-Law Changes

Mr. Haines reported that the IHSA voted against the change to football districts.

5. Update on Eligibility

Mr. Haines presented the eligibility information.

6. Update on Drug Testing

There has been one positive test result this school year. The student completed the ROE counseling program to reduce the suspension.

7. SHS Hall of Fame

Mr. Haines will bring a draft of a proposed SHS Hall of Fame to the meeting in April.

No other business was discussed.

D. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
