B. Building, Grounds & Transportation
1. WardHome
Dr. Carlson stated that an illness in the Ward Family has delayed the purchase. Additionally, the district is working with Bob Russo, Attorney for the Village of Seneca on a solution to the platted but not developed streets/alleys in the area of our intended purchases. The district is asking the village to vacate the streets and alleyways. A solution to the situation for this purchase and the four additional properties the district has targeted to purchase is being sought.
2. Summer Projects
Dr. Carlson reviewed the proposed summer projects, including Rival 5 Security Enhancements; Main Campus parking lot patch and seal coat and S curve mitigation; a Camera System Upgrade at Main Campus and Transportation; Gravel Lot between West Campus and the Transportation Building; Light retrofit continuation; white board replacements; upgrade electrical panels; the track scoreboard installation, and the Ward home demolition.
3. Van Purchase
Dr. Carlson reviewed a quote received from the Bill Walsh Group for a new 2019 Dodge Caravan and the estimate for a trade-in of the district's current 2015 Dodge Caravan. The district has until the end of May to ensure the pricing does not change.
4. Chamlin Report
Dr. Carlson stated that the gravel lot project has changed. The lot will now be brought to the same grade as the transportation/maintenance building level. The project will likely increase in cost. The hope is to use the excess earth removed from the gravel lot as fill during the Ward home demolition. The work is still scheduled to begin in June. Bids are being prepared by Chamlin.
5. Building Services Report
Barry Buchanan provided a building and grounds update.
C. Other
Dr. Carlson discussed a scenario where the Board would grant emergency powers to the superintendent during the period of school closure. The Illinois Association of School Boards provided a sample resolution that districts could use if need be.
