Cost of college went down for all students at Illinois Valley Community College

In-state tuition and fees fell 3 percent for 2018-19 at Illinois Valley Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $10,912 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $338 less than the $11,250 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 8 percent more than residents this year, or $11,782. Non-resident tuition and fees were reduced 2.3 percent from $12,058 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents.

Data shows 63 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 194 students received grants or scholarships totaling $988,121 and 26 students took out student loans totaling more than $98,847.

Including all undergraduates (2,958), 1,131 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.8 million, and 176 students took out $847,947 in federal student loans.
