Seneca Township High School District 160 Board of Education met July 29.

A special meeting of the Seneca Township High School Board of Education was held at 6:00 p.m. President Frye called the meeting to order with roll call.
1. ROLL CALL: Present: Johnson, Frye, Olson, Eltrevoog, Yandell, Biros
Absent: Hamilton
Others present: Superintendent Jim Carlson, Principal Marty Voiles, Assistant Principal Mike Coughlin, CSBO Dan Stecken, Board Secretary Nadine Maierhofer, Public Member Jenae Wise.
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS
No requests for public comments were received.
3. APPROVAL OF THE FALL 2020 REOPENING PLAN
Dr. Carlson briefed the Board on 9 replies (1 being a phone call) received from our online feedback form regarding our reopening plan.
He then stated that our plan was a work in progress. As the need arises changes would be made. It was stated in feedback from parents and faculty to make things work for in-person instruction. Parents/students have the choice to engage in remote learning. Those that were in remote learning would not have the opportunity to participate in extra-curriculars, which included sports.
Dr. Carlson then informed the Board on the process of how the day would proceed from start times, to the directional materials purchased and placed around the building, to PE classes, and masks breaks.
Two plans were presented to the board. The first used the 2:00 PM dismissal where students eat lunch in school. The second is a special modified schedule where students engage in five clock hours of instruction, are dismissed at 1:10 PM, and are provided an optional Grab and Go lunch if one is requested.
A motion was made by Sara Olson and seconded by Jason Eltrevoog to approve the 1:10 Dismissal Plan for the Fall Reopening as presented.

4. FIRST READING OF STUDENT HANDBOOK UPDATES
Mr. Coughlin briefed the Board on revisions to the 20-21 Parent Student Handbook.
5. ADJUNCT PROFESSOR CONTRACT
Dr. Carlson informed the Board about a 2nd Semester Introduction to Nutrition Class. This class follows Medical Terminology for those that are working towards their CNA and/or Nursing degree. We have an agreement with IVCC to fund the teacher for this 3-semester credit hour course.
A motion was made by Sara Olson and seconded by Jason Eltrevoog to approve the Adjunct Professor Contract with Amber Robertson as presented.

6. Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation,
discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees and student discipline.
There was no Executive Session.

Thank you from the Village of Seneca on waiving the annual fee for the use of the High School Facilities for the 2020-2021 school year.
