Western Illinois University will now allow an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from any accredited college to satisfy the University general education requirements, effective immediately.
Students with an AA or AS will enter Western with 43 credit hours completed. Additional credits students may have from their AA or AS degree will count toward major requirements or serve as electives.
"We continue to find ways to make Western even more transfer friendly," said Doug Freed, director of Undergraduate Admissions and Enrollment Services. "This is one more positive step for transfer students, and we are very excited to support student success with this change."
Students should seek additional support from WIU or the school they currently attend regarding additional courses that can be taken prior to transferring and are part of an individual's program requirements, separate from the University general education requirements.
