City of Peru Park and Recreation Board met Nov. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board Member Ray Zborowski called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

Attendance: Board Members- Ray Zborowski, Jeff Puetz, Linda Dzierzynski; Recreation Manager Seth Brannan, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events - Adam Thorson.

Absent: Steve Michelini, Bill Steve, John Fusinatto,

I- Guest

Ken Kolowski, Jill Bernal

II- Previous Minutes

A motion to approve the minutes of the September 14, 2021 & October 12, 2021, due to lack of quorum, board members proceeded with general discussion and tabled item.

III- Revenue and Expense Report

The Revenue and Expense Report was presented to the board by Adam Thorson. There were no further questions, and any other questions are to be directed to Adam Thorson.

IV- New Business

Communications:

Ray Z mentioned that he had discussed the disc golf tournament with Pete Etscheid and mentioned that the event went well even though the weather was not favorable. It was mentioned that the group is looking forward to next year’s tournament and that roughly 80 people participated.

Discussion on parks:

Seth B asked what the plan was for the ice rink this coming winter. Adam T mentioned that last winter it was opened December 26 and that we are completely weather dependent. Once it is known that the temperatures will be consistently freezing, the department will have the rink open.

Adam T gave an update on the tennis/pickleball court project.

Seth B mentioned that parking at Washington Park is at a minimum and might need to be looked at for future years.

Discuss Halloween Event:

Adam T mentioned that the Halloween event was successful and had over 350 treat bags given out to children.

Discuss Christmas 2021

Adam T informed the board that the light up Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 4 at 5pm. After the parade there will be an event at Washington Park to follow. At the park there will be gifts for the kids.

Discuss/Update on 2022 Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp

Adam T gave an update on the Pistol Shrimp contract for 2022. The City of Peru will be subsidizing the organization in 2022 due to loss of revenue from not being able to have ticket sales.

Jill Bernal inquired about a stop light at the intersection of Marquette Rd and 28th St. '

VII- Adjournment

A motion to adjourn at 6:55pm was made by Jeff P and seconded by Ray Z. All were in favor and the motion carried.
