Fundamentals of Fabrication is being offered 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, March 31 to May 5 at Illinois Valley Community College and Streator High School.
The course is approved by a select group of manufactures in Streator and will enhance a participants’ chances for hire with the companies.
Students will learn basic fabrication skills to create prototypes. Emphasis is placed on shop safety, safe tool use, measuring devices, blueprint reading, shearing, bending, rolling and press brake use. Students will use saw and plasma materials and make their own toolbox.
The first three sessions are in IVCC’s welding classroom and lab in Building J and the last three are in Streator High School’s welding lab. Class ID is 235; cost is $349.
