City of LaSalle Streets, Alleys & Traffic Committee met May 2

City of LaSalle Streets, Alleys & Traffic Committee met May 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Bacidore called the Meeting to order at 6:04pm

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Bacidore, Alderman Ptak, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson

Excused Absence: Alderman Herndon, Alderman Crane

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Superintendent of Public Works Patrick  Watson, Economic Development Director Leah Inman, Finance Director John Duncan,  Fire Chief Jerry Janick, Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, City Attorney James  McPhedran.

A quorum was present.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to approve and place on  file the minutes of the Streets, Alleys, and Traffic Committee for April 4, 2022. Each and  every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion is carried.

Bacidore began the discussion regarding turning Richard Hallett Road into a “non-truck”  route. Nan Butler, a resident that lives on Richard Hallett Road, stated that they are most  worried about the grain size trucks traveling down their road.

Deputy Clerk Bader stated that Police Chief Rodney Damron from Utica was first to  request this “non-truck” route due to trucks going down Richard Hallett and then are  unable to make the turn onto 178.

There are signs on Richard Hallett already on Utica side and LaSalle, but Lavieri stated  that the city needs to petition IDOT for signs to be posted on Route 6. Once the trucks  turn onto Richard Hallett and see the “No Truck” signs, it's too late and there is nowhere  for them to turn without completing the route.

Supt. Watson will speak with IDOT and will share with committee in two weeks.  The committee agreed that they would be looking to make it a “No Semi” Route.

Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to approve the request  to remove a “Slow Children Playing” sign at 1449 Linden Avenue.

Bader stated that letters were sent out to residents and there was no response or  attendees in the audience opposing this matter.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion is carried.

Bader asked if the discussion regarding adding a “Slow Children Playing” sign on Crosat  Street between Fifth and Sixth streets be postponed for two weeks. The resident that  requested this was not in attendance. Committee agreed to table this discussion for two  weeks.

There were no more questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion is carried.

Chairman Bacidore adjourned the meeting at 6:13 p.m.
