Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) recently visited Springfield to do a radio interview, learn about a business’s operations and campaign for Rep. Sandy Hamilton's (R-Springfield) Senate bid.
“Started with an interview with Sam Madonia, and got the chance to tour a great local manufacturing company,” Demmer wrote on Facebook. “I was happy to end the day by joining my friends state Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) and Wayne Rosenthal in supporting Sandy 4 Senate.”
In the June 28 primary, Demmer ran unopposed for the Republican nomination to the State Treasurer position. He will face incumbent Michael Frerichs (D) in the November election.
In May at a press conference, Demmer spoke about the recently-passed budget in terms that were less-than glowing.
“The budget the Democrats passed this year sets Illinoisans up for a series of tax increases in future years, as a result of their inevitably increasing spending at a time when revenues are declining,” Demmer said. “We talked a lot about the last couple of years how unusual some of these state budgets have been, given the heavy reliance on federal COVID relief dollars. If we just look at normal state spending, normal state operations for education and public safety and health care, normal state spending is growing by over 10% in this year's budget.”
At a recent dinner with Ogle County Republicans, Demmer's birthday was a topic of conversation.
"We had some fun at the Ogle County GOP Lowden Dinner yesterday," Demmer posted on Facebook. "Chairwoman Stacy Flanagan got the laughs with her belated birthday wishes to me, using some childhood pictures of me!"
Demmer joined the House to represent Illinois’ 90th District in 2013 .
