City of Peru Finance Committee met Oct. 24.

MINUTES
Alderman Buffo made a motion to approve the Finance Committee Minutes of September 26, 2022. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Finance Officer Tracy Mitchell provided the following finance update:
• Looking into new investment (CD’s) opportunities
• Working on annual Treasurer’s Report; to be published on 10/29
Alderman Payton thanked Finance Director Justin Miller for all his efforts.
Finance Director Justin Miller reported on the following:
• Audit should be here by the end of week
• Police and Fire pension audits are complete
• IVRD audit is complete
Mayor Kolowski stated he is working with Burkhart Auction Service regarding excess city supplies and should have a resolution in two weeks.
Human Resource Director Kim Reese reported the following:
• Still seeking applicants for staff accountant
o Former lead bookkeeper back part-time while search continues
• Wage Ordinance Amendments (to include)
o Corporation Counsel
o Electric Operations Manager
NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Kolowski reported Habitat for Humanity is interested in constructing a home in Peru. Mayor Kolowski stated there is still surplus properties not sold and offered to donate one of the properties for the project. Eric Carls, Engineering and Zoning Director stated permitting fees could be waived. Mayor Kolowski stated the city has $13,000 into a certain piece of surplus property. Committee was in favor of donating the property.
