City of Ottawa Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Dec. 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Ken Brown called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.

Public Comment 

None.

Award Firefighter Preference Points 

Preference points requests have been received from Firefighter candidate Seth Perry. Moved by Steve Malinsky, second by Tim McTaggart to award the following preference points to fire candidate:

Seth Perry: Five (5) Veteran preference points

All ayes. Motion passed.

Adopt Firefighter Final Eligibility Register for Entry Level 

Moved by Tim McTaggart, second by Steve Malinsky to adopt the Final Firefighter Eligibility Register as shown below:

1. Seth Perry 87.82

2. Connor Laube 83.62

3. Adrian Banat 80.76

4. Tyler Walsh 80.54

All ayes. Motion passed.

Authorize Firefighter Hiring 

The Board has received a request from Commissioner Less to hire four (4) firefighters. 

Due to three current vacancies and to bring the department back to full staff. In consideration of current staffing trends, the council has also authorized the hiring of an additional entry level personnel for a total of four.

Moved by Steve Malinsky, second by Tim McTaggart to offer conditional employment to the next four (4) eligible candidates on the current Firefighter Eligibility Register. All ayes. Motion passed.
